Commercial Product Offering

Tube Heaters - Low Intensity Infrared

DR Series - High Intensity Infrared Heaters

Patio Pal - PH Series Outdoor Infrared  Patio Heater

Infra-red heaters cut fuel costs by lower temperature settings - Building heat loss is in direct proportion to the difference between the inside and the outside temperatures.

With RE-VERBER-RAY®, the heat is directed to the floor and not trapped at the ceiling. Therefore, you can lower thermostat settings between 5 and 10 degrees and still maintain desired comfort levels at the floor.  The high efficiencies of infra-red equipment has resulted in our customers experiencing fuel cost savings of 50% or more.

Tube Heaters - Low Intensity Infrared

Tube heaters are gas-fired infrared heaters designed to provide comfort heat.  They consist of three (3) main components: a burner control box, radiant tube, and reflector assembly.  The heaters are typically suspended from the ceiling by chains and controlled by a thermostat.  They can be installed either vented or unvented, and may use outside air for combustion if necessary.  The radiant tube may be installed in different configurations depending on the heating requirements. (see Figure 1.1)

These heaters use infrared energy to heat spaces.  When heat is required, the burner control box ignites a gas/air mixture and pushes the hot gasses into the radiant tube.  As the gases pass through the assembly, the tubing is heated and emits infrared, which is then directed toward the floor by reflectors.  This is known as primary infrared and is abosorbed by the floor, objects and people in the space, raising their temperatures.  They in turn reradiate this heat, known as secondary infrared, to create a comfort zone at the floor level.  This is how tube heaters can heat large spaces without having to provide primary infrared for every square foot of area.  However, if the goal is to spot heat a small area within a large space, only the primary infrared makes this possible.

Tube Heater

A gas fired infra-red heating system emulates the efficiency of the sun by generating radiant energy that is converted into heat when absorbed by objects in its path.  Once the infra-red energy is absorbed by the floors, machinery, stock and people, it is then re-radiated to warm the surrounding air.

Infrared heat pattern

This method of heating, as opposed to filling a room with warm air (such as a forced air unit) allows the source of heat to begin at the floor level and not the ceiling.  This makes it the most efficient and effective method in which to heat under the diverse conditions present in warehouses, storerooms and even the most immense structures imaginable.

5 key features

5 Key Features to a Quality Infra-Red Tube Heater

Two-Stage Operation. - Advanced two-stage infra-red heaters fire at 100% or 65% of rated output.  This varied operation reduces on/off cycles by 35%, improves comfort levels, provides faster recoveries, offers design protection benefits and has been proven to save a minimum of 12% fuel savings over single stage.  By reducing on/off cycles you directly reduce wasted energy.

Burner Design. - A burner that produces an elongated and spiraled flame is superior to a "cup" style burner that produces a shortened flame.  An elongated flame emits more flame radiation than other flames (p.6 N. American Combustion Handbook, VII) and improves heat distribution.  Detroit Radiant's stainless steel burner is specifically designed for an elongated flame.

Tube Construction. - Radiant tubes are constructed of stainless steel, titanium coated, aluminized coated and hot-rolled steel.  Different tubes have different tolerances to heat and corrosion.  An efficient radiant heater will use 100% aluminized coated tubes, at a minimum.  A highly emissive (.95+) black coating will further enhance performance.

Highly Polished Reflectors - Highly polished aluminum reflectors transmit nearly 90% (ASHRAE 1996 p 3.8) of radiant energy.  Mill finish reflectors have an absorption value of 40% to 60% (ASHRAE 1996 p 3.8).  Reflector construction material is more critical than the reflector design.

Other. - Hot surface ignition is superior to spark ignition, complete mounting kits (hangers, clamps, flex connectors, end caps & gas cocks) save time during installation, interlocking tubes are easier to install and offer a superior fit to non-swaged tubes, titanium combustion chambers offer more protection over aluminized tubes.

Models -  HL2, DX2, XTS, DET, DES
